Cotton Towels Give Best Environmental Performance
Fishers Services is backing new research from the European Textile Service Association (E.T.S.A) which scientifically proves that continuous cotton roll towels outperform their disposable paper counterparts.
The E.T.S.A life cycle analysis has revealed that continuous cotton towels have the lowest environmental impact. Compared with paper products, the cotton roll system uses up to 63% less energy, generates up to 48% less greenhouse gases and generates up to 79% less waste.
Whilst paper towels are discarded after one use, cotton towels can be washed and reused around 100 times. At the end of their service life as towels, they have a final use in most cases as cleaning cloths – meaning that even discarded towels continue to be useful.
At a time when many companies are trying to improve their carbon footprint, the findings give a clear indication that cotton roll towels are more environmentally friendly.
Fishers Services sales director, Tennant Hilditch, commented: “The new findings clearly prove that a cotton towel roller system is the most ecologically sound option for a variety of reasons. They are easy to use, keep clean and help to maintain a tidy, litter-free environment. Cotton towel rollers offer the ideal solution for all types of commercial enterprises and local authority locations.”
